Handloom Weavers

The handloom industry employs over 43 lakh people, directly and indirectly, making it the second-largest source of jobs for India’s rural population after agriculture. Handloom weavers are divided into three categories based on the organization they produce: cooperative, master weaver, and independent weaver.

Revive Handloom Weavers

India’s weaving traditions & styles are rich & diverse, but in many parts of the country, they are decline & weavers have to struggle to continue working at their looms. Their incomes are falling, they have to compete with cheap power loom- made fabric, & they get little support from the government. Bhavyata Foundation is helping them by connecting them with various urban markets across Mumbai, helping them promote their products by way of corporate giftings, exhibitions and subscriptions.
